Weekend 2026: Calling All Cursillistas to Serve
With joy and gratitude, the Heartland Episcopal Cursillo—supported by the Diocese of West Missouri and the Diocese of Kansas—announces its 2026 Cursillo Weekend, to be held October 16, 17, and 18 at the Heartland Retreat Center in Parkville Missouri.
We are excited for this opportunity to gather once again in the spirit of Cursillo and to offer a transformative weekend of faith, fellowship, and renewal. As we prepare for this weekend, we are calling on Cursillistas from both dioceses to prayerfully consider serving as team members.
We are delighted to announce that the Lay Rector for the weekend will be Raja Reed of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church KC with Cheryl Hart of Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church in Branson serving as Assistant Lay Rector. Together, they are leading the formation of a vibrant, prayerful team.
We are seeking volunteers for many roles essential to the life of the weekend, including:
- Clergy for the spiritual team (5)
- Music ministry (5)
- Table leaders (10)
- Palanca team (8)
- Fourth Day support
Cursillo is built on the gifts of the community, and every role—seen and unseen—helps create the sacred space where hearts are opened and faith is renewed. If you feel called to serve, please consider offering your time, talents, and prayers to this weekend.
If you are interested in serving on the team or would like more information, please contact Raja Reed at rajareed@gmail.com.
More details about team formation and next steps will be shared soon. Until then, please hold the Heartland Cursillo Weekend in your prayers and listen for the Spirit’s invitation to say “yes.”
Who we are
The Heartland Episcopal Cursillo ministry involves both the Dioceses of West Missouri and Kansas. We actively empower and equip Christian laity with the knowledge, support, and encouragement to live out their baptismal covenant to serve Christ. Our objectives are to help Christians understand and develop their individual callings to be Christian lay leaders. This begins with a 3-Day Weekend consisting of short talks, discussions, meditations, worship, and fellowship. The 3-Day Weekend is the springboard into the 4th Day community. Individual parishes see the Cursillistas living out their 4th Day in ways of enthusiastic leadership and action. Cursillistas also encourage others in living out their baptismal promise.
